Managing Director APL

Luke has some 20 years experience in the property industry, spanning local and central government, SOEs, and private companies, with particular expertise in the management & development of corporate property portfolios. He has hands-on experience in the construction industry and extensive knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, which equip him with the unique diversity of skills required for portfolio management and successful Project Management.

 

JOANNE CONROY - BBS (VPM)

Property Manager/ Director  Queenstown Office

Joanne studied science at Canterbury University before moving to Queenstown in 1983. She has a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University majoring in Valuation and Property management.  With extensive knowledge of the Queenstown property market, Joanne has been a commercial Property Manager in Queenstown since 1987 and is now considered to be the leading Property Manager in the district. Joanne has a vast knowledge of the Reserves Act, leases, licenses, easements, permits and local government property issues and is responsible for the Queenstown Lakes District Council portfolio.

Steve's in depth knowledge of appellations and cadastral data is invaluable in the management of property portfolios and his understanding of the complications of diverse property portfolios is further enhanced by his strong historical grounding in the Department of Survey and Land Information.

 

CAROLE (SID) DOECKE– B.Com (VPM)  MPINZ, Registered Valuer

Property Portfolio Manager

With over 20 years of valuation experience in private practice and government departments in both Australia and New Zealand, Sid has a robust and in depth knowledge of property issues. Her expertise has been further enhanced by three years as Rural Lending Manager with the National Bank and, more recently, as Manager of Crown Property portfolios for LINZ.

 

ROSE BURNARD - BBS (VPM)  Dip B. Admin (Fin)
Property Manager/Valuer

Rose has been APL’s Project Manager for Land Information New Zealand's South Island Property Management Contract since 1 July 2004. Under this contract there are approximately 1,050 properties, which are all very diverse.  Rose has dealt with all areas of property management for LINZ under this contract and deals with all day to day issues which affect Crown land. She undertakes all the monthly reporting for the contract. Prior to taking up this role Rose worked for three years in one of New Zealand 's largest property companies, DTZ New Zealand Limited. She gained extensive experience and knowledge in all spheres of commercial and residential buildings, including managing a residential property portfolio of over 300 properties in the lower North Island and the upper South Island.

 

MELINDA CLELAND - BEc. GDip Prop 
Property Manager

Melinda has Bachelor of Economics, University of Tasmania and a Graduate Diploma in Property, University of South Australia.  Previously working with Esk Property Group in Tasmania she specialised in rural, residential and life-style property valuations and development feasibility studies. At APL she assists with management of Land Information New Zealand's South Island Property Management Contract. This involves establishing new leases, licenses, easements, access agreements, maintaining existing relationships and dealing with day to day issues affecting the Crown land managed under contract.

 

EMMA GLAZEBROOK – MARLA
Property Manager

Emma brings with her over five years experience in Property Management and a Technical Diploma in Residential Letting and Property Management from the UK's National Federation of Property Professionals. Starting out in lettings management and more recently transferring to leaseholds, Emma has gained a number of transferable skills relevant to Bodies Corporate. Now with over 3 years experience, Emma's role encompasses the day to day management of a portfolio of over 30 Bodies Corporate including liaising with owners and contractors, convening and running Body Corporate meetings, general property management and contract management.

 

DAN EGERTON - BCom DipBS MRIENZ
Property Manager
Born and bred in Queenstown, Dan studied Commerce and History at the University of Otago and also studied Property Valuation and Management at the Massey University. He then travelled to the UK and was based in London for 2 years working for Network Rail being responsible for one of their largest commercial property portfolios in Great Britain. Dan’s in-depth knowledge of the South Island affords him the opportunity to address most issues which cross his desk with some background or experience.

 

CRAIG RACKHAM - BSc (Hons) MRICS
Property Manager
Originally from Yorkshire, Craig graduated from the Nottingham Trent University in England where he earned a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Planning & Property Development. Craig became a professional member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 2008 whilst working at Allsop LLP in London, one of the UK’s leading independent property consultancy firms. Here, Craig specialised in commercial and residential property valuation and additionally gained a broad range of experience in the leasing and letting and acquisition and disposal of commercial and residential property. In his role at APL Craig is responsible for operating a comprehensive Property Management system, including rent billing for over 850 leases. Craig is also responsible with assisting with establishing new leases, licenses, easements, access agreements, maintaining existing relationships and dealing with day to day issues affecting Crown land under Land Information New Zealand’s South Island Management Contracts.

 

JEFF REIDY

Property Manager

Jeff has Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University majoring in Finance and Property Valuation and Management.  Previously working with DTZ New Zealand Ltd Jeff specialised in Crown property management, lease management and the project management of office fit outs. At APL he assists with management of Land Information New Zealand's South Island Property Management Contract. This involves establishing new leases, licenses, easements, access agreements, maintaining existing relationships and dealing with day to day issues affecting the Crown land managed under contract.

 

TRACEY CUNNINGHAM
Property Administrator
Tracey has been in integral member of the Queenstown team since 2007. Her primary role is to provide assistance with the daily operation of various issues affecting Crown owned land under Land Information New Zealand's South Island Management Contract. This includes resource management issues, establishing new leases and licenses and debt recovery. Tracey's role also incorporates the issuing and compliance of all film and reserve permits, along with maintaining new and existing relationships within the community, for the Queenstown Lakes District Council property portfolio.

 

CLARE CROSSWELL - Open Poly. Cert. Women in Business
Property Administrator
Clare's role at APL includes property management, preparation of leases/licences, land status investigations and office administration. Having previously operated her own business providing office support for small companies she has a thorough business background which has also encompassed positions working in LINZ, local government and a law office.

 

STEPHANIE HAYES - Open Poly. Cert. Introductory Accounting
Property Administrator
Steph has experience in general administration, accounting, computerised cataloguing and databases. She is responsible for processing and preparing financial reports on APL contract accounts, and administering rural land leases, licences and commercial buildings.

 

Resource Management Specialists

BRONWEN FRAZER - BSc (Geol) 
Resource Management Consultant
Bronwen joined APL Blenheim with local experience as a Resource Management Consultant and Engineering Technician, with a particular emphasis on Wastewater Management.  Bronwen has completed a BSc in Geology with an environmental background and has a keen interest in viticulture/winery developments, water resources and land disturbance. She also offers a sound knowledge of resource management issues within the Marlborough Sounds.

Tony Quickfall – BRS PG Dip BA (MNZPI)
Resource Management Consultant / Director  Nelson Office

Tony has been practicing as a planner since 1994 and manages the Nelson office.  As a former council planning manager and district planner, he has expert knowledge of Council processes.  He has undertaken planning work throughout the country. His experience spans resource consents for development projects including commercial and subdivisions, private plan changes, infrastructure development, coastal marine planning, writing policy and planning rules, and processing applications for councils.  In addition, he undertakes environmental noise monitoring and has experience in transport planning.  Tony is an accredited hearings commissioner, and provides expert planning evidence at Council hearings, the Environment Court and the High Court.

 

ESTHER SASSENBURG  - MPlan (Netherlands), Architecture and Urban Design Certificate (netherlands)
Senior Transport Planner

Esther specialises in sustainable transport planning and traffic impact assessments, with a focus on urban design. Esther’s skills include the preparation of policy documents, scheme assessments, designs and impact assessments for sustainable transport and urban design. She has a particular passion for sustainable transport including promotion and education around cycling and walking.  Esther brings valuable international experience to the team, having worked in senor capacities in transport, and urban planning and urban renewal in Rotterdam, planning in the Solomon Islands, and planning in the Maldives, as well as and NZ Council and consultancy experience.

 

ELIZABETH HOVELL – MRP, BA Geography (NZPI Grad)
Resource Management Consultant

Elizabeth works part time in the Nelson office providing additional planning capacity.  With a background in planning administration at Marlborough District Council as well as office manager at the Nelson Environment Centre, Elizabeth’s experience includes administrating various projects including the Climate and Clean Energy Project, the 100% Renewable New Zealand Solar Saver Project and the Open Orchards Programme in Nelson.  Her role involves resource consent applications, planning and project compliance analysis, and plan development including submission analysis. 

 

Valuation Specialists

LINDSAY BORRIE - ANZIV, SPINZ, B.Com Ag (VFM)
Registered Valuer
Lindsay has been in the valuation field since 1985, valuing in the lower South Island. He moved to Central Otago in 2001, valuing mainly in the Queenstown-Wakatipu basin area, as well as Cromwell and the Upper Clutha.  He brings experience and extensive knowledge over a broad spectrum of property types, with his current portfolio including lifestyle and rural properties as well as vineyards, residential dwellings and apartments. His experience in the commercial sector within this region covers industrial properties, Motel and Lodge accommodation. Lindsay's vast knowledge ensures you will receive an informed perspective and reliable assessment

 

TIM HIGGINS - MNZIV, MPINZ, NZ Institute Valuers Professionals Urban (VPU)
Registered Valuer
Tim has been in the valuation and property management/development field in the Auckland region since 1974. He moved to Queenstown in late 2010, valuing mainly Queenstown-Wakatipu area. Tim brings extensive property experience over a broad spectrum of property disciplines ranging from Central and Local Government Property Management/Valuation to undertaking development and valuation within the private sector. His experience includes industrial and commercial property, development and subdivision sites, residential, Motel and design build property valuations.

 

Administration

PAULINE TROON
Administration Manager (Blenheim)
Pauline’s role at Abel Properties Limited includes receptionist, tenancy & rental management, credit/debit control, monthly reporting and all associated office administration work. She has extensive administrative experience having previously worked as an executive officer in the education industry, legal secretary in a law firm and PA to the managers of two large South Island companies.

 

KYM HADLEY

Receptionist & Valuations Administrator

Originally from the UK, Kym has lived in the Queenstown area since October 2010 after moving here from Western Australia. Kym has extensive administrative experience spanning 18 years, having previously worked as a PA in the lighting industry, secretary in the National Health Service and Continuous Improvement Coordinator in the Western Australian Residential Aged Care sector. Kym has also owned two family businesses in the UK. Kym’s role includes receptionist, preparation of Current Market Valuations and invoicing for the two Valuers, monthly reporting and all associated office administration work.
